TEACHING EXPERIENCE

 

June 2023- present - Ceramics Teacher at Payne Street Pottery, Louisville, KY

  • One-time wheel-throwing and 6-week ceramic session classes

  • Classes includes instruction on clay preparation, wheel-thrown, hand-building, and glazing (beginning and intermediate) and studio cleanliness/etiquette 

 

June 2022 - June 2023 Co-designer, facilitator, and instructor of Queer Cat 2023: An LGBTQIA+ Woodfire Experience, East Creek Art, Willamina, Oregon

  • Included a full twelve months of program development, press releases, volunteer-coordination, and fundraising

  • Over fifty new and seasoned queer artists came to experience a hands-on wood firing weekend of community-oriented programming, entirely for free

  • First LGBTQIA+-led firing of the “ChickenCat,” East Creek Art’s wood/soda catenary arch kiln

 

May 2023 - Teacher of Carving Hand-built Cups for Woodfire, Daffodill Studio, Portland, OR

  • Designer of course for beginner ceramic artists

  • Course included instruction on hand-built ceramic fabrication and an introduction to wood-fired ceramics in preparation

November 2023- present - Store Manager at Kentucky Mudworks Louisville, Louisville KY 40223

  • Managerial duties include taking inventory, product ordering, employee scheduling, communicating with and transferring products to and from KY Mudworks production facility in Lexington, KY

  • Other duties include operating a forklift, driving a commercial work van, making clay and kiln deliveries, loading and firing customer work in electric kilns, answering phone calls and emails, working in the retail store with Shopify POS, being knowledgeable about products we offer

 

July 2022- present - Owner and Founder of Slydel Studio, Louisville, KY

  • Personal art studio

  • Production of ceramic artwork and other high quality, one-of-a-kind, handmade objects 

  • Duties include ceramic and artwork design and production, vending at craft fair booths, advertising, social media management, brand design, website design, quarterly budgeting, sales, packaging, and shipping

 

Jan 2020- May 2023 - Glaze Technician and Production Assistant at Pigeon Toe Ceramics, Portland, OR

  • Glazed all ceramic products and mixed/maintained over fifteen different ceramic glazes

  • Additional duties included loading and unloading electric kilns, production slip-casting, packaging and shipping, sweeping, mopping, cleaning out grease trap

 

June 2020- June 2021 - Studio Manager at the Glass Building MFA Studios, PNCA, Portland, OR

  • Oversaw thirty MFA students and their art studios

  • Included assisting students with art fabrication, installation, tool safety and use, printing, scanning, and copying
